Immense £60m defender wants to sign for Arsenal – Now it’s up to the club

One name which has been doing the rounds with Arsenal transfer sources lately is Jurrien Timber. It’s thought that the Ajax defender is desired by Mikel Arteta and is one of around four players which the club is pursuing currently.

It is true that Arsenal submitted an offer of around £30m to sign Jurrien Timber, which unfortunately is not enough. De Telegraaf reporter Mike Verweij has confirmed this bid and states that Ajax want £60m.

Further, Verweij claimed that Timber already has an idea of what he can earn at Arsenal and would like to sign for them on a “multi-year commitment”. What’s funny about this is that it’s indicated that when Timber visited the FA Cup final between Manchester United and City, it’s thought that being in London for the final is significant to this deal – was Timber ACTUALLY going to watch United, or was he thinking ahead with Arsenal?Timber is the type of player which Mikel Arteta needs heading into next season. Not only can he play as a centre back but he can play right-back too. This adds to the list of versatile players which Arteta has in his defensive roster – Oleksandr Zinchenko, Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu being the others.

Given that Arsenal showed interest in Joao Cancelo earlier in the transfer window, it’s no surprise to see them linked with the similar player Jurrien Timber. Fans hope that this deal can get over the line, since it would add to their depth which would bring them closer to Manchester City’s level.
