£50m Arsenal man hints at transfer with major bid from European giants 'expected to arrive' soon

Arsenal and United States forward Folarin Balogun has hinted that he would be open to a move away from the Premier League side this summer.
The striker has been highly rated throughout his time at the Emirates but he is yet to establish himself as a regular for the Gunners.

The 22-year-old spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan at Ligue 1 side Reims and he was among the division’s top scorers with 21 goals in 37 appearances.

Balogun’s future is in doubt heading into next season as he would likely be behind Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah in the pecking order if he sticks around.

Balogun has now said he will be “cool with whatever happens” this summer.

“I obviously went away and the aim of me going away was to prove I can play first-team football,” Balogun told CBS.

“Obviously, me coming back, I had a good season, I felt I was able to do that and play at that level so coming back, it’s not really much of a situation where I think I need to try extra hard to prove something.

“It’s a decision that’s not with me, it’s with the people higher up. I’m sure they’ll make that decision and whatever happens, I’m cool with it.

Balogun added: “I’m obviously just focused on pre-season with the team.

“I’m really just focused here and of course, my agent and my family are dealing with this.”

The Athletic are reporting that Serie A giants Inter Milan are ‘interested’ in Balogun following their decision to end their pursuit of Chelsea flop Romelu Lukaku.

Inter have been ‘in talks with the representatives of Balogun’ and a ‘bid of around £34.3m is expected to arrive’, but Arsenal are ‘believed to value him at £50m’.Kieran Tierney is another player being linked with a move away from Arsenal after Mikel Arteta preferred to use Oleksandr Zinchenko at left-back last season.

TEAMtalk’s Arsenal correspondent – Charles Watts – has revealed that they are “not going to give him away” amid interest from Newcastle United.

“They’re not going to give him away. If they don’t get an offer that they think is suitable, then they’re not going to push him out of the door,” Watts told TEAMtalk.

“He’s a very good player and he could be very important to Arsenal but the team has evolved under Arteta without him.

“You know, the whole move to the inverted full-back type system that Arteta plays, certainly on the left-hand side with Zinchenko, that’s just not in his game.

“He’s a very good full-back who I think would walk into most Premier League teams and improve them. But the way Arsenal play, he’s just not suited to that system.”
