Arsenal are 'weighing up a move' for 24-year-old World Cup winner

There is a lot of interest about whether or not Mbappe will actually leave PSG this summer, after he told the club he wanted to depart next summer.

His contract will expire in a year's time and then he can walk out for free, and it's only six months until he can freely negotiate with teams.

The Ligue 1 champions obviously want to sell him and make sure they get something back from their investment but so far he's not budging.

One of the main reasons is that the World Cup winner still wants his current side to pay off the loyalty fee for the second season of his current contract, with no sense of irony whatsoever.

According to reports the 24-year-old earns €72 million gross per year on his current contract plus a potential €150 million renewal bonus and the €170 million for two years loyalty.

That makes it the biggest contract in sport and according to Spanish outlet Diario, his representatives know he won't get such a good deal again, no matter where it is.

In order to compensate for that loss in income, Mbappe is hoping to get a similar deal to Messi in Miami where the Argentine will get a percentage of the merchandise at the club and some of the tv rights money.Mbappe has been the subject of intense transfer speculation after telling PSG that he won't be renewing his contract.

He's tipped to leave this summer as the French giants look to avoid a free transfer scenario, with the player's deal set to expire next summer.

Real Madrid, who tried to sign him last year, are thought to be the frontrunners to snap up the 24-year-old sensation.

But they face stiff competition from Arsenal, who are admirers of Mbappe and are 'considering whether or not to send a package' to his representatives.

That's according to Football Transfers, who claim the Premier League side are keeping tabs on the World Cup winner's situation.

Mbappe has been at PSG since 2017 following his staggering £163 million transfer.

But he almost joined Arsenal before penning a deal at PSG, revealing he was in contact with then-manager Arsene Wenger.

Speaking to France Football, he said: "A little while ago, before I signed for PSG, we were in contact in 2017. I chose a different direction but he wasn’t annoyed at me. He was a gentleman about it and wished me good luck."

Mbappe added: "He is a real French football monument who has left Arsenal. I have not seen many people in this world being viewed in such a unanimous way.

"When the entirety of Europe gets on its knees in front of him to celebrate him, that certainly means something."

Arsenal making a play to sign Mbappe this summer seems unlikely considering the purchase of Kai Havertz and their pursuit of Declan Rice.

They secured the German's services from Chelsea for a transfer fee of £65 million, while a sum of £105 million has been mooted for the West Ham United star.
