Breaking: Player who ‘hoped for Arsenal’ transfer about to join Aston Villa

Bild journalist Christian Falk has said in The Daily Briefing that Aston Villa are close to signing Moussa Diaby, adding that the Bayer Leverkusen winger was hoping for bids from Arsenal and Newcastle United.
The Express has reported that Villa have agreed an initial £43 million transfer deal with Bayer.

The report has claimed that the 24-year-old France international winger will soon undergo a medical.

Falk said, as transcribed by TBR: “Moussa Diaby was always dreaming of the Premier League and he dreamed of playing for a Champions League club.

“He hoped for Arsenal, he hoped for Newcastle but both clubs haven’t become concrete until now.”

The German journalist added: “Aston Villa will pay €55m plus €5m (£47.6m+£4.3m) in add-ons.”

Arsenal and Newcastle United should keep tabs on Moussa Diaby at Aston Villa
We believe that Arsenal and Newcastle United should monitor Moussa Diaby at Aston Villa.

After all, Arsenal and Newcastle have shown interest in the Frenchman in the summer transfer window.

And just because the 24-year-old is about to join Villa does not mean that the Gunners or the Magpies should give up on signing the winger in the future.

Diaby is not going to stay at Villa forever.

Earlier this month, Bild reported interest from Newcastle in Diaby.

Football Transfers also claimed this month that the Magpies are keen on the former Paris Saint-Germain winger.

The Telegraph reported in May that Arsenal had registered their interest in Diaby.

Diaby made 33 appearances in the Bundesliga for Bayer last season.

The 24-year-old scored nine goals and gave eight assists in those games.

The winger also made seven starts and one substitute appearance in the UEFA Europa League for Bayer last campaign.

Diaby scored three goals and gave one assist in those matches.
