BREAKING:Very clear desire’Mikel Arteta says player told him he wanted to leave Arsenal

Manager Mikel Arteta has told Arsenal’s official website that Granit Xhaka told him of his desire to leave the North London club.

The Switzerland international midfielder recently joined Bayer Leverkusen from Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

Bundesliga club Bayer have paid Premier League outfit Arsenal £21.4 million in transfer fees for Xhaka (Sky Sports).

Mikel Arteta on Granit Xhaka’s departure from Arsenal
Arteta said about Xhaka’s departure: “There are three parts to this – he had a very clear desire that it was the right time and a big opportunity for him personally to move there.

“We had that conversation and in the end, we all agreed that it was the right thing to move forward.”

Good for both parties
In our opinion, if Granit Xhaka personally wanted to leave Arsenal in the summer transfer window, then the North London club were right to sell him.

Yes, the Swiss star was brilliant for Arsenal last season, but he probably felt that he had done all he could do for the Gunners.

And he is 30 now.

Sky Sports have reported that Arsenal are on the verge of signing Declan Rice from West Ham United.

So Arteta already has a replacement for Xhaka ready.

Xhaka did not always have the best of times at Arsenal, but he was really very good for the North London club last season and helped them finish second in the Premier League table.

We believe that Arsenal will acknowledge the Swiss star for giving his all on the pitch whenever he played
