‘Going to let him go’: Journalist says Arsenal have changed their mind about 'serious' star

Before the 2023 summer transfer window opened, Watts stated that Arsenal were ‘open to letting him go’, but now, there is a chance he goes out on loan, instead, as he told Arsenal Insider.

Last season, Charlie Patino spent a season with Blackpool, but unfortunately for the Seasiders, they suffered relegation to League One.

At the age of 19, Patino still has a lot of development left in his tank, but the issue is that his contract is running down.

His current deal runs out in 2025 and Arsenal have a big call to make on whether to provide him with a new deal.

Despite it looking like he was heading for the exit door for good a couple of months ago, Watts has shared an update from what he has been told about those inside the club.

“We have all been waiting to see what’s going to happen with Charlie this summer,” said Watts. “It was revealed towards the end of last season that Arsenal were probably going to let him go on a permanent transfer. Things are going on with Charlie, at the moment.

“Talking to some people around the club and at the club on him, as far as I am aware, all options are open when it comes to Charlie Patino, that includes a loan now.

“Whereas, not long ago, it looked like it was probably going to be a permanent deal for Charlie – things are starting to move with him, if it is a loan, then obviously, he will only have a year left on his contract at the end of next season, so there is that to consider.

“All options are now open with Charlie and it’s not a foregone conclusion that it’s just going to be a permanent.”Patino should be loaned again
Arsenal should reassess the situation next summer. A loan move back to the Championship will do him the world of good ahead of the upcoming season.

It wasn’t so long ago that Rio Ferdinand was calling him a ‘serious player’ and backing the player’s call to leave Arsenal for good, as he told Vibe with Five in May.

You never know what can happen, Patino could take huge strides during these next 12 months, and before you know it, he is signing a new deal.
