The Championship sides are sharpening their elbows as they get stuck into the summer transfer window, ahead of what promises to be another thrilling season.
Birmingham City have already welcomed seven new additions over the threshold and are on the lookout for more. Meanwhile, West Bromwich Albion are still looking to get off the mark but remain faced with some further departures on top of the likes of Dara O’Shea, who joined Burnley ahead of their season back in the Premier League.
As the rumour mill heats up, here’s a look at some of the latest transfer updates for the Blues and the Baggies.
Blues Arsenal interest latest
Despite an already impressive transfer haul, Birmingham remain keen on adding more names to the roster this summer as they look to power on through the upcoming Championship season. Recent reports had linked the Blues to a loan move for Arsenal’s Omar Rekik amid their pursuit of more defensive depth.
However, according to BirminghamLive, the 21-year-old Tunisia international is not on the club’s radar, but another Arsenal ace is. Centre-back Auston Trusty is a target that Birmingham ‘would love’ to sign this summer following his impressive loan spell last season. The club are said to be waiting to see what Mikel Arteta has planned for him during pre-season before they make any decisions.West Brom midfielder exit link
Despite only joining the club in January, Nathaniel Chalobah could be the latest departure on the cards for West Brom. According to a report from The Telegraph’s John Percy, the midfielder has flown out to Israel ahead of a potential move to Maccabi Haifa, just six months into his current contract.
The former Chelsea man made 13 Championship appearances for Albion last season after joining on an 18-month deal from Fulham. If Chalobah is to depart, he will join the growing list of names as the club look to free up some room on the wage bill.
