However, he lost his place to Oleksandr Zinchenko last term. Tierney made 27 league appearances, but only six of those came from the starting line-up.
It is quite clear that he is no longer the first-choice left-back, but speaking to The Athletic, the 26-year-old said that he is still happy with the proceedings.
The Scot added that he can’t decide his future at the club, but remains committed, having given his best whenever he was called up to play last season.
He said: “It’s not really up to me (my future). I’m happy, I’m working hard every day and getting minutes. I’m just trying to do as well as I can.”

“You can’t play every single game, every single season, every single year. I don’t expect that and I still made a lot of appearances last year.
“I was ready every game and working 100 per cent. I think everyone in there would agree with that, that I never give less than that whether I’m playing or not.
“In the games I did play I tried to do my best for the team. I came off the bench a lot last season, whether that was to see games out or help get a goal.”
Arsenal have big decision to make over Tierney
Tierney played second fiddle to Zinchenko over the course of last season. In the final games, manager Mikel Arteta also preferred Jakub Kiwior over him.The trend has continued in the current pre-season. Kiwior started with Arsenal’s regular defenders against Nurnberg and MLS All Stars before Takehiro Tomiyasu took his place versus Manchester United.
Tierney has featured off the bench in each of those games, but his failure to start raises questions whether the club are contemplating selling him to raise funds over the forthcoming weeks.
The Scot joined the Gunners in a deal worth £25 million in 2019. Amid links with Newcastle United, it has been claimed that he could be permitted to leave for a fee of more than £30m this summer.
There are currently no offers on the table. With three years left on his contract, Arsenal don’t any pressure to sell, but the need to recoup funds after the £200m spending spree could urge them to do so.
