Jurrien Timber names his two favourite and incredible' Arsenal players after sealing £38m transfer

Jurrien Timber named Thierry Henry and Robin van Persie as his favourite two Arsenal players after finally completing his £38 million move to the club.

The Dutch international was confirmed as Arsenal’s second signing of the summer on Friday, with Declan Rice set to follow him imminently in a club record £105m deal.

And while discussing his switch to north London to Arsenal.com, the 22-year-old defender spoke about his love for the club and where it came from.

“It was because of my brothers,” he said. They were always Arsenal fans, and I just loved seeing Arsenal play. They had big players, the way they played, the style. I just love the club.

“I had this from a young age, but my brothers kind of put that in me. I liked watching Robin van Persie of course, and Thierry Henry. They were my favourite players.”

The addition of Timber will give Mikel Arteta plenty of options, with the former Ajax star capable of playing in several positions.

He has been signed to primarily operate as a right-back, but is equally comfortable operating elsewhere.

“I’m lucky to say that I can play as a central defender, as a right full-back, sometimes even in midfield,” he said.

“So I think that’s a good thing and I need to keep that.

“I just like the way Arsenal play, it is a bit similar to Ajax’s style and I like to play from the back. I can see a lot of similarities, especially in the way Arsenal and Ajax want to play.”
