Update:Arsenal now ready to battle Man Utd to agree deal for 45-goal/assist striker

The Red Devils are currently weighing up an approach for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, but they have also been linked with a move for Porto’s Taremi.

Taremi has been on the radar of United for a long period of time, and it was recently reported that manager Erik ten Hag appreciates his qualities.

United are yet to make an offer for the €20 million-rated star, but it now appears they face fresh competition from the Gunners for the 30-year-old.

Man Utd need to pursue two strikers this summer
United currently have Anthony Martial as the only specialist striker in the squad. Marcus Rashford played up front last term, but he is most comfortable on the left wing.

In our opinion, the Red Devils should pursue two centre-forwards in the summer transfer window. Martial has had a poor injury record, and he should be sold in the coming weeks.

Hojlund would be a superb addition to the squad with his immense potential. The young Dane has a strong physical and aerial presence, and he is also gifted with good pace.

The left-footed striker has already earned comparisons with Erling Braut Haaland. He still needs to improve his finishing, but has the traits to become an elite marksman.

While Hojlund is the priority target, the club should rival the Gunners for Taremi, who was exceptional for Porto last term. He scored 31 goals and provided 14 assists from just 51 outings.

Taremi is in the back end of his career at 30, but has been in superb form in the Portuguese top-flight.

United need more goals next season to compete for the title. Taremi would be a valuable addition as he has the knack of making regular goal contributions for club and country. The Iranian has shown that he can shine on the big stage. He scored twice in the 6-2 loss to England at the World Cup. United should consider him as a deputy behind Hojlund.
