Mikel Arteta is facing a huge decision if Arsenal complete David Raya transfer
Arsenal completed the majority of the summer business at the start of the window, but Mikel Arteta looks set to welcome a major switch within his squad in the coming days. The Gunners have already spent £200million to acquire Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber and Kai Havertz with Granit Xhaka as the only noteworthy first-team departure.
The Gunners are in talks with Brentford for the transfer of David Raya and have already seen their opening bid worth £23million rejected, however the Bees could lower their asking price and accept a proposal in the region of £30million. Romano has now claimed that more talks have been scheduled with negotiations advancing to the final stages between the two parties with Arsenal hopeful of completing the deal in the next 24-48 hours.
Signing Raya would be a significant coup for Arteta but it may leave Aaron Ramsdale in limbo. The Gunners welcomed the England international in 2021 after paying Sheffield United £24million in a deal that could rise to £30million, and while he has faced some criticism, he played a key part in Arsenal's push for the Premier League title last season.
Although Ramsdale could find himself entrenched in a battle with Raya for the No.1 spot in between the sticks with Arteta facing a huge decision regarding who he selects as neither will want to play second-fiddle.
