According to Fabrizio Romano, Mohammed Kudus is still a potential option for Arsenal as transfer deadline day approaches.
Gunners manager Mikel Arteta has already made some great signings this summer. Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber have all arrived at the Emirates.
However, Timber is likely to be out for the remainder of the 2023/24 season after rupturing his ACL, so the addition of another versatile defender is probably Arteta’s priority.
It seems like the Spaniard could be on the hunt for a more attack-minded player as well though…
Fabrizio Romano reckons that the Gunners cannot be ruled out in the race to sign the Ajax star this summer:
“Let’s see what happens also with Arsenal. Because Arsenal in June called for Kudus then they invested big money on Kai Havertz and all the other players they signed this summer including [Jurrien] Timber and Declan Rice. So that’s why with Arsenal nothing was going to continue but never say never. That’s why Ajax decided to wait and not accept West Ham’s proposals.”
Described as Ghana’s ‘Golden Boy’, and an ‘electric’ player by talkSPORT, Kudus has absolutely everything needed to succeed at the very highest level of the game.
The 23-year-old is an explosive athlete and has pace and power in abundance. He can play in midfield on either wing or even as a centre-forward.
He bagged an incredible 18 goals and seven assists in 42 games for Ajax last season – really impressive numbers.
Ajax want around £44 million for the Ghanaian this summer (The Guardian). That sounds like decent value to me.
Mohammed Kudus could take Arsenal to another level in the final third, and would provide Arteta with a completely different option in midfield and attack.
Whether the Gunners boss thinks that signing the 23-year-old is a pressing priority this summer remains to be seen though.
