Declan Rice left West Ham to join Arsenal last month in a £105 million deal (Sky Sports).
The bottom line is that Rice wanted to leave the Hammers in order to compete at the very highest level. The West Ham fans and David Moyes would have wholeheartedly understood that.
However, the snarky little comments that he has been making since moving to the Emirates have not gone down well in East London…
The 24-year-old Gunners midfielder has made a habit of praising the way that Arsenal do things since moving to North London.
And when Rice was speaking to TNT before yesterday’s game, he highlighted how he’s been blown away by Mikel Arteta and the club in general, quoted via the Daily Mail:
Arsenal ace Declan Rice can’t resist another dig at West Ham with 'blown away' comments
“I think in the last four weeks alone I’ve grown so much. I’ve learned so much about football that I hadn’t really seen before. I was blown away by him. Of course, I’m now working with him day by day, it’s another level. Seeing how he works, how his mind operates, picking up stuff. Seeing how he goes into detail on the opposition and seeing how he wants to improve us as players individually collectively. It’s really impressive.”
Listen, Rice is gone now. I get that it’s time for us all to move on and forget about him.
However, it’s hard not to be angered by some of the comments he is making now. In my opinion, Rice is taking clear back-handed digs at David Moyes, and it’s just not very respectful.
We get it, Declan Rice is loving life at Arsenal. Maybe he should tone down the comments on how much he’s impressed with his new employers though…
