'Deal has been signed': Fabrizio Romano drops Arsenal news overnight ahead of deadline day

Fabrizio Romano has shared that a ‘deal has been signed’ for Nuno Tavares to secure a deadline-day move from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal to Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest.

The transfer expert added on Twitter that Nuno Tavares will initially move to the City Ground on a loan deal, with a ‘buy option’ of £12 million, plus add-ons.

This is a move that suits all parties because it’s pretty clear that Tavares isn’t part of Arteta’s first-team plans at Arsenal.

But he will earn those regular minutes under Steve Cooper, whose Nottingham Forest side are trying to stabilise themselves further after surviving relegation last season.

Back in 2021, Arsenal brought the highly-rated fullback to the Emirates, but he just couldn’t find his feet in a team that has made huge strides during that period.

The 23-year-old spent the previous campaign on loan at Marseille, where things started well, but faded away, well, he is hoping for a more consistent run of performances now.

“EXCL: Nuno Tavares loan deal has been signed now between Nottingham Forest and Arsenal with new details,” said Romano.

“Understand loan fee is £1m, buy option £12m but also £3m extra add-ons for Arsenal. #AFC. Told buy option clause could become mandatory if certain conditions are met.”

Busy deadline day for Arsenal
Well, the craziest 24 hours in football is upon us, with teams all over Europe looking to do last-minute deals they could have concluded weeks and weeks ago.

Arsenal will be expected to be in the heat of the bottle, with perhaps more outgoings than incomings at the Emirates.
