That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims that Raya is now on the verge of becoming an Arsenal player.
Romano has given his usual ‘here we go’, indicating that Raya to Arsenal is completely in place.
Romano adds that personal terms were agreed last week and that Raya only wanted a move to Arsenal ahead of any other club.
The Italian claims that documents are now being prepared with a medical to be scheduled later this week.
Arsenal have spent the last 10 days or so trying to force through a move for Brentford stopper Raya.
A £23million offer was made last week, which was short of Brentford’s asking price for the goalkeeper.
Arsenal now appear to have reached a compromise with Brentford as Romano claims the final deal will be worth around £30million.
David Raya ready to challenge at Arsenal
Raya has become one of the top Premier League goalkeepers since Brentford’s promotion back in 2021.
Raya’s ability with the ball at his feet has really caught the eye whilst he is also a strong shot-stopper.
This move has puzzled many though as Raya is going from first-choice goalkeeper at Brentford to backup at Arsenal.
Euro 2024 is on the horizon and Raya may be at risk of losing his position in the Spain squad if he spends his time on the bench.
Raya may well believe that he can overtake Aaron Ramsdale in the Arsenal pecking order, backing himself to become a star at the Emirates Stadium.
Raya will have to battle for that position but he is backing himself to shine as his move to Arsenal nears.
