The American only spent a year at Arsenal, but he seemed like a very popular member of the squad. Everyone loved him, and the reactions to his departure tell you as much.
We already told you how Aaron Ramsdale reacted immediately after the announcement yesterday. Here’s what William Saliba and Bukayo Saka had to say.
Bukayo Saka and William Saliba react as Matt Turner leaves Arsenal
Arsenal signed Matt Turner from New England Revolution last year.
The American was always going to be a backup to Aaron Ramsdale, but he definitely impressed when he was given an opportunity to play.
His performances for Arsenal made him the USMNT’s number one as well, and he has been fantastic for his country over the last 12 months.
Now, Turner has taken the next big step in his career. He’s all set to become Nottingham Forest’s new number one now, and his old Arsenal teammates have wished him well on his new journey.
William Saliba commented on his Instagram post: “TOP man good luck for your new adventure!”
Bukayo Saka added: “All the best Matty boy!”
Kai Havertz and Gabriel Magalhaes both replied with the same message: “All the best bro!”Matt Turner will be a solid goalkeeper for Nottingham Forest.
The American is not really easy on the eye like Alisson or Ederson, but he is very good at what he does. He can still get better with the ball at his feet, but his shot-stopping is fantastic.
Forest had a great season last time out and they will be hoping to build on it now. With Turner, USMNT’s number one, in goal, they have every chance of achieving great success this term.
Turner is expected to make his debut in Nottingham Forest’s opening game of the new season. That, ironically, is against Arsenal.
