Mikel Arteta Open To New Signings Following Jurrien Timber Injury
The finish line of this summer's transfer window is in sight and there are plenty of deals that Arsenal can still complete before concluding their business.

Assuming the Gunners' target for this season is to be crowned champions of England after finishing runners-up to Manchester City last term, spending just over £200million to sign Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice as well as bringing in goalkeeper David Raya on loan is certainly a statement of intent.

Having said that, it has since emerged that on his Premier League debut against Nottingham Forest last weekend, Timber unfortunately suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee and Mikel Arteta has revealed that this could keep him out for the remainder of the campaign.

Given the Dutchman's ability to play in every position across the back four, his versatility will be missed and naturally, the setback poses the question as to if Arsenal's approach in the remaining days of the transfer window has to change with Arteta previously hinting that he wasn't expecting to make any further signings.

"I’m more thinking about the resources in the team to keep doing what we want to do," the Spaniard said when the question was put to him during the pre-Crystal Palace press conference. "But it's true he was giving us a lot on both sides. But again, it's things that happen and we have to be prepared for that."

Now, as history shows Arteta has twice signed at least one player during the final month of a summer transfer window, perhaps Arsenal supporters can expect another arrival before deadline day amid links to Ajax winger Mohammed Kudus, Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo and Barcelona wonderkid Ansu Fati.

However, player sales are the priority. And if the last three years are any indication then the next fortnight will be a busy period for the Gunners boss and sporting director Edu Gaspar with as many as nine senior stars - including Nicolas Pepe, Folarin Balogun and Nuno Tavares - all potentially in line to leave.Player sales, Cancelo decision and what to expect from Arsenal in next 15 days
