This according to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri will base their strategy to replace Correa on whether they loan him out or sell him on a permanent basis.
29-year-old former Lazio and Sevilla forward Correa is still a player who Inter would listen to offers this summer.
So far in the transfer window, no serious interest in the Argentine’s signature has emerged. Therefore, he has remained part of the Inter project for next season.
Naturally, as the clock ticks down towards deadline day, the possibility of a departure for Correa looks more and more remote.
However, the Gazzetta notes, there is still a possibility that interest could come up. Particularly from the free-spending Saudi Pro League.
And, if Correa were to head for the exit door in the final weeks of the transfer window, Inter would have a plan to replace him.
Balogun & Alexis Top Of Inter Milan’s List Of Prospective Correa Replacements
According to the Gazzetta, Inter’s plan to replace Correa would entirely depend on the formula of his exit.
If the Nerazzurri are to find a suitor to buy the 29-year-old permanently, then they will go after Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun.
The US international has looked to be a target for Inter throughout the window.
However, Arsenal’s high valuation of their young striker has been enough to put the Nerazzurri off making a move.
On the other hand, Inter would also consider listening to loan offers for Correa. And if the ex-Biancocelesti forward were to leave on loan, Inter would be ready to turn to a familiar face.
Alexis Sanchez is available on a free transfer just twelve months after leaving Inter to join Marseille. The veteran former Arsenal, Manchester United, and Barcelona forward would certainly constitute a convenient and low-cost option to take the place of Correa in the squad if the Nerazzurri do not receive a transfer fee for the latter.
