Gunners manager Mikel Arteta announced on Wednesday that the Brazilian international striker is out for a few weeks after undergoing surgery on a knee injury.
Dinnery, founder of Premier Injuries, a website used to track and record injury data for the English top-flight, the “country’s leading data injury analyst” who works for The Athletic reckons the Arsenal striker could be back in three weeks at the earliest, but he believes he should not be out for more than six weeks.
Jesus missed three months of action last term due to the same injury, and he was not feeling comfortable after the Barcelona game.
Arsenal decided to quickly take action now by having him go under the knife, and Arteta will hope he returns sooner rather than later.
However, the Spaniard will not be eager to rush the former Manchester City striker back into action, and it is safe to say Jesus will not feature for the Gunners this month.
He will miss the Community Shield game against his former club on Sunday and is also out of the Premier League opener against Nottingham Forest.
Jesus will also miss the games against Crystal Palace and Fulham and could be unavailable for the match against Manchester United right before the international break in September.
Arsenal resume league action with a trip to Goodison Park to face Everton on September 16, and the 26-year-old could be available for the game or make his return in the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur the following week.
The Gunners have to start the campaign on a flawless note to have a chance of going one better than last season, and while Jesus’ absence is a huge blow, Arteta will back himself to come up with the perfect solution until he returns.
