You'd go a long way to find an Arsenal fan not happy with the signing of Rice. He is one of the best midfielders in Europe and will only get better at the age of 24.
Timber's arrival has also gone down well with supporters. Havertz less so but there is enough confidence in Arteta that he can get more out of the German than people saw at Chelsea.
But it is both Timber and Havertz who are giving Arteta a headache. The duo arrived for combined fees of over £100m.
However, after several pre-season friendlies, it still isn't clear where they fit in. Havertz was tipped by many to replace Granit Xhaka in a left-sided No 8 role.
But that could take a long period of adaptation after the best part of three years playing as a striker or false nine at Stamford Bridge. Havertz hasn't quite hit the ground running in his friendly appearances, despite grabbing a couple of goals, and Rice could instead be the player to step in for Xhaka.
Havertz has been an Arsenal player for over five weeks now but Arteta seems no closer to deciding what his best position is. Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday's Community Shield against Manchester City, Arteta listed as many as five roles Havertz could play.
He said: "Well, he’s playing at the moment in attacking midfield on the left but he can play on the right or as a winger coming inside, or as a nine or a false nine. We’ll see - it depends as well as we’re seeing a lot of things and the team give you information every day."
