Arteta may have some cause for concern about one of his defenders
He appeared comfortable in the Arsenal backline as goals from Eddie Nketiah and Bukayo Saka put them into a 2-0 lead.
Timber went down hurt towards the end of the first half but was OK to continue until half-time.
However just seconds into the second half, he was injured once again as he appeared to be holding the area around his right knee and calf.
Takehiro Tomiyasu had to come on and replace him as the £40million summer signing from Ajax hobbled off the pitch.
Arteta is yet to hear good news as he exclusively admitted to talkSPORT that he is ‘worried’.
He added: “I need to speak with the doctors and understand what happened, but he had a really weird movement as soon as he came on the pitch. So, I don’t know.”
Timber impressed in his first competitive outing for Arsenal when he starred in their Community Shield win over Manchester City.
However, fans could be facing the prospect of seeing him on the sidelines in the coming weeks whilst he recovers.
It remains to be see just how long he will be out of action for but his absence could cause a selection headache for Arteta.
Fortunately for him and Arsenal though, Timber’s injury did little to stop them claiming all three points at the Emirates Stadium.Despite a late goal from Taiwo Awoniyi, the Gunners secured the win in a match that was delayed by 30 minutes due to turnstile issues.
It may only be the opening weekend but Arsenal have started as they mean to go on by seeing out a crucial win on home turf.
