Report: Arsenal could now move to sign ‘fast’ £30m West Ham United target before the deadline

Benfica ace Alexander Bah is a surprise name on the Arsenal transfer wish list in the final hours of the transfer window.

That is according to a report from Tipsbladet over in Bah’s native Denmark.
They claim that there is major interest in Bah ahead of the transfer deadline with clubs in England very keen.

It’s stated that Nottingham Forest and West Ham United are both interested in snapping up Bah this week.

The report adds that Arsenal are in the race too and offer a ‘particularly attractive option’ if Bah moves on.

Arsenal have lost versatile defender Jurrien Timber to injury and the Gunners could move for another option across the back line.

Bah could be that player but Benfica are – unsurprisingly – reluctant to lose Bah before the transfer deadline.

An offer of up to €35million (£30million) would be needed to convince Benfica to sell and Arsenal will have to weigh up if they really want to spend that kind of money on another defender.

Who is Arsenal target Alexander Bah?
Bah was born in Denmark and made his way through the ranks of clubs like B 1913, Næsby and Ikast FS before becoming a first team player back at Næsby.

17 appearances in Denmark’s third tier were enough to attract interest from HB Koge, who signed Bah in 2016.

We have seen consistent progression ever since as Bah moved up from the second tier to the top flight in Denmark, joining SønderjyskE in 2018.Bah – who is of Gambian descent and now has nine Denmark caps – continued to shine and joined Czech giants Slavia Prague in January 2021 before securing a move to Benfica last summer.

Primarily a right back who can also play further forward if needed, Bah made an impact with one goal and seven assists in his debut Benfica campaign.

Arsenal and West Ham are now very keen and may see Bah as having plenty of untapped potential at just 25.
