Seven deals Edu can still complete at Arsenal as Arteta eyes huge transfer boost

There are only a few days left of the summer transfer window and while Arsenal may have the majority of their incomings sorted, there's still plenty more business to be concluded before it slams shut.

The Gunners have landed Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and David Raya for a combined spend of roughly £200million so far. While Mikel Arteta has claimed that business is done as far as planned deals are concerned, he didn't rule out the possibility of making more signings if opportunities arise.

Then there's the case of trimming the squad with potential outgoings in the coming weeks, with some players unlikely to feature for the side in their long-term plans. With that said, here's a look at the deals still left for director Edu Gaspar to complete in the next few days.

Incomings:

Defensive option

New signing Jurrien Timber was expected to play a huge role this season, but a knee injury looks set to rule him out for the entire season in unfortunate fashion. That could see the Gunners return to the market in search of a defensive option to reinforce their ranks, with the likes of Mohamed Simakan, Benjamin Pavard and Kyle Walker-Peters linked with switches.

Winger option

It may be more of a want than a need for Arsenal, but they could look to add a versatile wide player that may be able to bolster their forward line.

Outgoings:

Kieran Tierney

Kieran Tierney has struggled for game time over the past season as Mikel Arteta has looked to ask for his full-backs to invert, which doesn't suit the strengths of the left-back. The Scotland international missed out on the squad to face Nottingham Forest and has continually been linked with an exit.

Folarin Balogun

Another who missed the squad to face Forest was Folarin Balogun, who has impressed over the past season, particularly with his goalscoring feats on loan for Reims. football.london understands that Arsenal recently rejected a £34.4million bid from Monaco for the youngster, with a £50million valuation set.

The USMNT international will be keen on game time this season, which isn't guaranteed for the Gunners, while they will be looking for a club-record sale.

Nuno Tavares

Nuno Tavares joined from Benfica for roughly £8million and came with plenty of promise, but struggled to display that for Arsenal. A loan spell with Marseille showed he has attacking ability, though questions remain over his defending, but it seems unlikely he will be a part of the squad going forward.

With that in mind, it seems as though his future may lie elsewhere and could bring along a healthy profit from the deal itself too.Albert Sambi Lokonga

Joining from Anderlecht, Albert Sambi Lokonga had a high ceiling, but hasn't been able to secure himself a place in the team at Arsenal. A loan spell at Crystal Palace in the second half of last season saw him make a few appearances, but it seems increasingly likely his future lays away from the Emirates Stadium.

Rob Holding

A long-term servant for the club, Rob Holding has been something of a bargain from Bolton Wanderers for the years he has given back. However, the reality is that he doesn't quite suit the style and in his limited appearances as of late, a change in the way the side play to accommodate him is an issue.

Upgrades across the squad have also seen him drop down the pecking order, meaning an exit could be on the cards in the coming week or two.
