The USMNT international was mainly used in Cup and European games by Arteta, but with suggestions that David Raya could be entering the building, it has put Matt Turner down to the third choice.
As a result, he has signed a four-year deal with Nottingham Forest (BBC Sport), who survived promotion during the final few weeks of last season after promotion and are now looking to steady themselves.
Whilst Turner’s minutes were reduced last season, they were going out of the window once Raya arrives.
Either way, when his move was signed, sealed and delivered, Turner posted a message to the Arsenal fans on Instagram and he received a number of responses from teammates.
“Top man,” said Saliba. “Good luck with your new adventure.”, whilst Holding added, “Going to miss you, brother. All the best and will see you very soon.”
Kai Havertz added: “All the best bro.”
Turner to play against Arsenal
It’s just the way of football, not so long ago, Turner was on the Wembley pitch celebrating with Arsenal after they won the Community Shield against Manchester City.
What a start to the season, a much-needed confidence booster in their quest to win the Premier League title this season.
Yet, fast forward to the weekend, and Turner could make his Nottingham Forest debut against Arsenal at the Emirates, where he will be hoping to deny his old team a great start to the new season.
