Transfer boost for Arsenal as club ‘ready to give up’ in race for midfielder – Path now clearer for Gunners

Arsenal may have been handed a boost in their efforts to sign Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Djibril Sow as rivals Lazio are ‘ready to give up’ on a move for him.

That’s according to Il Tempo, relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb, who say the Italian side are considering giving up on their own pursuit of the midfielder.

A report yesterday surprisingly put Arsenal in the mix for Sow, explaining that they were suddenly trying to enter the negotiations for him and get a deal over the line.

That was followed by a report from Corriere dello Sport stating that annoyance was starting to grow at Lazio as the competition for the player grew and the idea they may need to rush to get him grew with it.
Il Tempo now state that Lazio are considering giving up their pursuit of Sow as the player does not convince Maurizio Sarri anyway.

Sow has been evaluating an offer from the Italian club but is doing so alongside evaluating the other offers he has on the table from his other suitors, such as Arsenal.

That’s not impressed Lazio, where Sarri had not been convinced anyway, and they are now considering abandoning the transfer altogether and concentrate on other targets instead.

That could be a boost for Arsenal, whose path to Sow may now be clearer if Lazio do step aside and go hunting elsewhere.
