No clean sheet for Onana
Palace denied Andre Onana a third consecutive clean sheet, but there really wasn’t much he could do about it.

The free-kick came in from the right by Ebere Eze which the United defence allowed to travel all the way across the box to Joachim Andersen.

Here he took it first time to find the top corner, via Diogo Dalot’s shoulder that helped it loop over Onana.

Amrabat struggles show he isn’t the answer at left-back
After a stellar display at right back mid-week, Amrabat kept his place today.

While his passing was excellent again, he struggled defensively to cope with Jordan Ayew running at him.

MORE UNITED STORIES
Unsurprising given he is simply filling in at an unfamiliar position, but he needs to be moving into the midfield when cover is back.

Toothless compared to Tuesday

Mason Mount shows his worth
Mason Mount struggled in the first few games of his Old Trafford career, but has since improved.

The time out injured has been almost a blessing in disguise for him, as since his return he has looked much more worth the £55 million he cost. With the added security of Sofyan Amrabat behind him, Mount looked great and was unlucky not to open his United account.

Alejandro Garnacho needs to be starting from now on
Garnacho was so good against palace mid-week and was unfortunate to see him not start here.

But coming off the bench he was United’s most dangerous player and instantly made more of an impact than Marcus Rashford had all game.

Rashford was later hooked off in the 79th minute which could signal Ten Hag losing patience, a start for Garnacho could be coming up.

VAR strikes once again
It seems that every week, United are denied a penalty despite it looking almost nailed on.

This time was no different, with Joel Ward’s hand contacting the ball which seemed an obvious decision.

Erik ten Hag will rightly be fuming about this one, but while it was clear, the argument against also makes sense.

United shouldn’t be relying on VAR to beat Palace anyway.

Two steps backwards
After two wins in a row which showed really positive signs, United were absolutely awful at Old Trafford barring a few names.

Such a contrasting performance compared to the win on Tuesday is baffling.

After just seven games top four looks too far gone already with how poor the Reds are looking.
