Liverpool keen on Aguer
Liverpool could make a move to sign West Ham defender Nayef Aguerd, according to reports. The Moroccan centre-back has impressed during his time with the Hammers so far, and it is understood that his performances have done enough to convince Jurgen Klopp of his potential worth to the Reds.
Should Liverpool firm up their interest, however, they could face significant competition from reigning Premier League champions Manchester City. The 27-year-old cost his current employers around £30 million.
The 3AM Verdict: Aguerd has proven that he has more than enough quality to cut it at the highest level in the Premier League, and it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see him at the centre of a top six transfer battle in the near future. Liverpool in particular could do with greater strength in depth at the heart of defence, and as such, this makes perfect sense.
Molina in demand
Arsenal, Manchester City, and Aston Villa are all set to compete for the signature of Argentine World Cup winner Nahuel Molina, amid ongoing confusion regarding the player’s release clause, according to Ok Fichajes.
The right-back currently plays for Atletico Madrid and is attracting interest following a stellar debut season in Spain, although it is unclear as to just how high his current release clause actually is. Some reports claim it is as low as £25.7 million, while some believe it to be closer to £60 million. Either way, Atleti may look to offer the South American a new contract to ward off looming attention from England. The 3AM Verdict: There is no doubting Molina’s quality, and if he could be signed for £25 million or so that would be a major, major coup. That being said, the chances of that happening - whether it be because his release clause is worth more or because he pens a fresh deal in Spain - feel pretty slim at this stage.
Burnley and Palace chase striker
Burnley and Crystal Palace are two of several clubs keeping tabs on Colchester United striker Bradley Ihionvien, according to Football Insider. Alongside the Premier League duo, Championship outfits Leicester City, Watford and Norwich City are also monitoring the teenager.
Ihionvien has scored twice in his last three outings this season, and is out of contract in Essex at the end of the season - which could inspire club higher up the footballing pyramid to take a gamble on him.
The 3AM Verdict: Stranger things have happened, of course, but the chances of Ihionvien actually making the step up from League Two to the Premier League is probably fairly slim. That being said, if he can sustain his growth this season, and continue in the promising form he has shown of late, then he could well be worth a punt on a free transfer next summer.
