Time is running out before Saudi Arabia's summer transfer window slams shut.
A number of high-profile players have ditched the Premier League for Saudi in recent months, with the likes of Jordan Henderson, N'Golo Kante and Aleksandar Mitrovic all leaving the English top-flight to join Al-Ettifaq, Al-Ittihad and Al Hilal respectively. Henderson's former Liverpool teammate Mohammed Salah has also been linked with a mega-money move to the Saudi Pro League in recent times, with Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho also mooted as a potential target.
However, The Athletic have now reported that neither Salah nor Sancho will be making the move to Saudi before tonight's transfer deadline. Jurgen Klopp will certainly breathe a sigh of relief, although it is claimed that interest in the Reds forward remains for a potential future move, with all parties said to have good relations.
Inadvertently, this has a chance of impacting Arsenal flop Nicolas Pepe. The 28-year-old is not in Mikel Arteta's plans going forward and the former Lille man has been linked with a move to several Saudi sides in recent times.
The Gunners will hope that the fact Sancho and Salah aren't making the move to the Pro League, could potentially lead them to targeting another Premier League winger, in the form of Pepe. The Ivory Coast international, who spent last season on loan in Ligue 1 with OGC Nice, was excluded from Arsenal's pre-season tour of the United States.Since then,
he has also been left out of each of their four Premier League matchday squads this term, with Arteta admitting last week that all parties are looking for a solution sooner rather than later. "We are still looking for solutions and there is a lot of communication between his agent and the player and the club at the moment," the Spaniard said when asked about Pepe.
"There is nothing to announce at the moment."
