The Gunners have put together a strong start to the season, but they have already fallen behind the faultless Manchester City, and they are going to need to eat up that gap over the coming week, or at least prevent it from growing from four points. Mikel Arteta’s men will be strong favourites against the Cherries, but there is always danger in these supposedly one-sides Premier League clashes.
As Arsenal look to avoid an upset, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding the Emirates Stadium.
Shearer’s Toney prediction
Alan Shearer believes Arsenal-linked Brentford striker Ivan Toney will move on in Janaury ahead of his suspension lapsing during that month.
“I think, its been coming from Brentford themselves and Thomas Frank so my guess is that he’s going to be up for sale and they’re just sowing the seeds now and testing the waters,” Shearer said on the Rest Is Football podcast. “He’d be a good player for a top club because he’ll always get goals and be a big threat.”
Brentford are said to be likely to command £60million or more for their star striker.
Smith Rowe latestArsenal star Emile Smith Rowe is said to be considering his future amid a lack of appearances again this season.
The attacking midfielder made his first start in more than a year earlier this week when Arsenal defeated Brentford in the Carabao Cup. He was heavily linked with a move away in the summer but ultimately stayed put, though the same may not be true of the winter window.
90min say Smith Rowe will consider whether he needs to leave the Gunners in Janaury as he looks to lodge a bid to make the England squad for the upcoming Euros. It’s claimed Aston Villa, Brighton and Newcastle United are all paying close attention.
