Nicolas Pépé (28) was seemingly on the verge of joining Beşiktaş yesterday after the Ivory Coast international underwent a medical ahead of the move, however, according to L’Équipe, the deal between Beşiktaş and Arsenal is being re-visited, which is holding up the completion of the transfer. 

Having returned from an underwhelming loan spell at OGC Nice, it was clear the Pépé didn’t feature in Mikel Arteta’s plans at the Emirates Stadium. However, it also proved difficult to shift the Ivorian international, whose contract with the Gunners runs until 2024. 

There had been reports of a contract termination, however, with the Turkish transfer window still open until 15th September, Beşiktaş then showed an interest. As reported by L’Équipe on Monday, the former Lille OSC winger underwent a medical ahead of the move, and the transfer looked to be on the brink of completion, however, at the last minute, the agreement is being revised. Fresh negotiations between Arsenal and Beşiktaş are now underway. It is unclear which side sought to alter the original agreement.
