Earlier in the game, the Gunners star was on the receiving end of a horror challenge from Bolivia's Diego Ibanez in the fifth minute. Ibanez's attempt to win the ball went completely wrong, striking Gabriel in the chest with his right knee - but the Arsenal defender continued on for another 80 minutes.
Physical therapy doctor, Dr. Rajpal Brar, provided a brief update on his initial assessment of the injury. On Twitter, he wrote: "Thigh issue for Arsenal CB Gabriel Magalhaes - unsure if it's contact related or a muscle pull."
Brar later provided another update: "Based on what multiple people have told me, sounds contact related. Overall good news."
Gabriel is expected to start a run of games following Thomas Partey's recent groin injury - after being left out for the opening three fixtures of the season by Mikel Arteta. The Brazil international had been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium throughout the summer transfer window with Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad registering a strong interest in the 25-year-old.
Gabriel has now shared an update on his Instagram after it was feared he had sustained a muscle injury whilst playing for Brazil. The 25-year-old wrote on Instagram: “Only God knows how much I’ve waited for this moment!!
"So happy for the debut and the big win!! Come on Brazil."
There was no mention of an injury problem in his post on Instagram suggesting he should be fit upon his return to Arsenal next week. Brazil face Peru in their South American World Cup qualifying clash on Wednesday, September 13 - which will give Gunners fans' more of an idea as to whether Gabriel is injured or not depending on if he plays or is absent from the squad.
