Report: Champions League boss eyeing £12m Arsenal ace, hasn’t started a single game this season

Barcelona could move for Arsenal midfielder Jorginho with boss Xavi keen on adding another holding midfield player.

That is according to a report from Mundo Deportivo, who report that Xavi wants another number six option in his team.

Barca did sign Oriol Romeu over the summer but he can’t play every single game over the course of the season.

Xavi is now looking at other options such as Martin Zubimendi, Joshua Kimmich, Guido Rodriguez, Joao Palhinha, Florentino and Arsenal man Jorginho.

It’s suggested that Barcelona may look to land a midfielder who is struggling for first-team starts and that could mean a move for Jorginho.

Arsenal may need Jorginho to make big impact soon
Jorginho has yet to start a single Premier League game this season and has played just 18 minutes across three substitute appearances.

The Italian international joined Arsenal for £12million in January, making a late move from Chelsea to North London.

Jorginho provides valuable experience to a young Arsenal squad and he may well be needed very soon.

Thomas Partey is out injured and ultimately expected to miss a number of weeks.

Declan Rice started as Arsenal’s holding midfielder against Manchester United but Kai Havertz isn’t exactly convincing in midfield at the moment.

That may mean Mikel Arteta is tempted into pushing Rice further forward and bringing Jorginho into midfield after the international break, with the Gunners still looking to find their fluency.Jorginho rumours persist
This is just another rumour to add to the pile when it comes to Jorginho.

Despite only arriving in January, Jorginho is constantly linked away from Arsenal.

90Min reported in June that Arsenal were willing to sell with Lazio, Napoli and AC Milan all interested.

Now it’s Barcelona, with the January rumour tour already firing up just days after the summer window closed.

Maybe Jorginho will be tempted to leave if he continues to struggle for first-team football, with Barcelona seemingly right in the mix.
