Timber provides update on injury as Arsenal to welcome back midfielder ‘soon’

Arsenal will welcome back one of their injured midfielders 'soon' as Jurrien Timber provides a minor update as to his own status.
All of the focus in the wake of Arsenal’s quite unbelievable late victory over Manchester United was of course on the performance. Why wouldn’t it be?

“I don’t know, unfortunately, he got an injury in training and it doesn’t look good, we need some more tests, we believe he’s going to be out for weeks,” he said. “We think it’s a groin but can be something in between.”

With Partey out the team was switched around by a longer absence will see Carabao Cup and Champions League games missed by Partey. Depth has been weakened in the squad in the lead-up to the new season.

Jorginho is the obvious cover for Partey however the club extended the contract of Mohamed Elneny who has so far been unable to take part with the team. After the game, football.london asked the Egyptian international when we might see him part of the group again to which he swiftly replied, “Back soon.”

Short and sweet but a positive update. Although Elneny may not be capable of the level Partey brings, he has always been a solid pick when called upon and showcased great displays at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge.

He was in attendance for the game against Man United. football.london spoke to Timber post-match where the 22-year-old was still using the aid of two crutches to move about.

Asked how he was feeling with his recovery, a swift, “Good, good” was the response. He will be sorely missed, especially with the club failing to find a suitable replacement in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal now have a weekend off for the international break giving the likes of Partey and Elneny the chance for further recovery. Whether either will be back for the trip to Everton on Sunday 17 September remains to be seen
