"I've been a Liverpool fan my whole life but from young I've liked Arsenal," Toney told the Diary of a CEO YouTube podcast. "I've liked watching Arsenal from how they play and kind of how passionate (their) fans are." According to The Independent, Chelsea and Spurs are prepared to battle it for Toney's signature with the player himself hinting he could depart the Bees very soon.
"I don't let this all affect me," he said in August. "Obviously, it will go on in the background but my job is to keep training well when I get the chance. In the games, keep scoring and doing well but I think that everybody wants to play at the top of the tree.
"Not that Brentford aren't there, but I feel like playing for a big club, fighting for trophies, these kind of things, everybody wants to do. If the chance was to come along, I think I would be silly not to look more into it."
For Chelsea, according to the Evening Standard, Ivan Toney is under consideration as a potential target for the winter window. Meanwhile, Tottenham may still be in search for a Harry Kane replacement in January despite signing Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest for £47.5million.
With many clubs likely starting to draw up short lists of potential targets, Toney has sent a clear message to the interested teams. On Instagram, the England international posted a story of himself working out in the gym with the simple caption, "showtime".
Brentford already look to be preparing for the potential departure of their star man with a late summer deal struck to bring Neal Maupay back to the club on loan from Everton. Thomas Frank's side also hold the option to buy him permanently, perhaps preparing for the possibility Toney joins a fellow Premier League club in January.
