Toney sends clear message to Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham amid transfer links

Ivan Toney has continued training in anticipation of his return to football next year with his ban for breaching betting rules to end in January. The Brentford striker was found guilty of 232 betting offences with his eight-month ban beginning in May after he was charged last November.
Despite the 27-year-old not featuring for the Bees this season, they are unbeaten after four games with Bryan Mbuemo handling the talisman burden well having scored four goals in the first few weeks. And it is certainly possible he will be need to continue doing that with a number of Premier League clubs interested in signing Toney in next year's winter window.

"I don't let this all affect me," he said when asked about Brentford exit rumours. "Obviously, it will go on in the background but my job is to keep training well when I get the chance. In the games, keep scoring and doing well but I think that everybody wants to play at the top of the tree.

"Not that Brentford aren't there, but I feel like playing for a big club, fighting for trophies, these kind of things, everybody wants to do. If the chance was to come along, I think I would be silly not to look more into it."

On his admiration for two Premier League clubs, he added: "Yeah, I've been a Liverpool fan my whole life but from young I've liked Arsenal. I've liked watching Arsenal from how they play and kind of how passionate (their) fans are."Perhaps knowing some clubs will be watching, Toney has been rather public in what he is doing away from the pitch. Earlier this week he posted several photos of an intense gym session and he has now followed that up with several pictures on his Instagram story showing shooting drills.

Toney's ban officially ends on January 14 and from that date onwards he can start negotiating a transfer, if a Brentford departure is his desire. Despite enduring intense individual training sessions, it may not be until February that football fans see Toney back in competitive action with his fitness levels and match sharpness likely below those who will have completed five months of the 2023/24 campaign.
