It is understood that Chelsea were looking to ‘close the deal before other candidates’ swooped in for the winger with their intention to loan Nusa back to Club Brugge for the rest of the season.
However, they didn’t get a deal over the line and the expected interest from other parties is gradually building with 90min claiming Arsenal and Liverpool ‘are among the sides tracking’ the Norway international.
The report adds that the 18-year-old ‘turned down the chance to move to Stamford Bridge’ over the summer but Chelsea ‘will continue to scout Nusa over the coming months’.
It’s understood that Ajax, Borussia Dortmund, Lyon and Monaco are also interested in signing the winger, while Newcastle have joined Arsenal and Liverpool in ‘scouting him in recent weeks’.
When asked about Chelsea’s bid before the deadline, Nusa told TV2: “I didn’t know about it. We had a match that day against Osasuna, so I didn’t find out about it until after the match. I saw there was a lot of stuff on my mobile phone. My cell phone exploded after the match. Then I wondered what happened. Then I realised.
“I already knew that it wasn’t going to happen [this summer]. But then the money came on the table. Then it was seen in a slightly different way. We had to have another conversation when the money arrived, but we were on the same page, so there was no problem there. I knew what to do anyway, so it was fine.
“Now I’m in a situation where I want the next step, when it happens, to be something I’ve really thought through. I want to find what is right for me. It is important to me. I think about what is best for me. Right now it’s perfect, sort of, so you just don’t stress too much, things will come along.”GEORDIE GLEE
Newcastle United are closing in on a new deal for Bruno Guimaraes amid reported interest from a number of clubs, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Spanish publication AS made the claim earlier this week that Liverpool made a £100m bid for the Brazilian in the final days of the summer transfer window.
After being turned down by Moises Caicedo, it is understood the Reds offered that money to Newcastle for Guimaraes but the Geordies had no intention of doing business for their star midfielder.
And now in an exclusive, Romano insists that Newcastle are “now on the verge” of getting a new deal for the former Lyon man over the line.
Romano wrote on X: “Newcastle make significant progress in negotiations to extend Bruno Guimarães contract, agreement now on the verge of being completed Positive secret talks took place last 10 days — still final details to iron out then time to sign. Bruno’s new deal, close.”
