Arsenal star set to miss clash v West Ham as injury blow emerges - report

Arsenal injury news emerges ahead of West Ham United EFL Cup clash as Martin Odegaard could miss out
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta could be set to rest a number of his key stars for Wednesday’s EFL Cup clash against West Ham United including Martin Odegaard, according to Football.London.

The UK-based media outlet reports (30 October) that the Norwegian maestro is currently nursing a hip injury after only making the bench in their 5-0 win over Sheffield United on Saturday (28 October), though the injury isn’t thought to be a bad one.

Arteta is set to provide an update on Odegaard’s fitness status on Tuesday but could be set to rest a number of his key stars for Wednesday’s game at the London Stadium (1 November), with the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey set to sit out with injuries.

West Ham United are currently undergoing a slippery slide right now following their third successive defeat against Everton on Sunday (29 October).

David Moyes and his team certainly need a morale-booster right now and there may be no better way to get it than giving Arsenal and former star Declan Rice an early EFL Cup exit on Wednesday.

Domestic cup wins can provide some sort of transformation to a flailing and low-on-confidence squad and that’s what Moyes and his team must be pushing for when Arsenal travel across to the London Stadium.

West Ham United fans will be expecting Moyes to pull out a strong squad regardless of Arteta’s plans for the match because the East London faithful want to see a fairy tale cup run.

Should Moyes fail to do that and suffer another unfortunate defeat against a weakened Gunners side on Wednesday, then the sack pressure could well ramp up on him
