While Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah are the two current choices for that centre-forward role, there has been plenty of discussion surrounding a clinical focal point to work from. Brentford's Ivan Toney is one player who has been linked as he looks set to leave the club in January and so too was Ollie Watkins before he signed a new deal with Aston Villa.
Then there's Osimhen, a player who has been widely regarded as one of the best strikers currently in Europe after a sensational season with Napoli last time out. The Nigerian international scored for fun in the previous campaign, helping the Azzurri towards their first Scudetto in years.
However, things this season have been far from plain sailing for the forward and everyone associated with the club as a whole. On the results side of things, Napoli have failed to hit the heights of last season, with cracks already starting to appear in their early title defence.
While things are difficult on the pitch, there are also rumblings away from. Osimhen's agent revealed that there was a consideration of taking legal action against the club after a video from their social media accounts appeared to mock the striker.
On top of that, there's the fact that Osimhen's contract is also dwindling down, with less than two-years remaining on it and little sign at this stage of a renewal. All of that context put together has seen the transfer discussions surround a potential move to Arsenal in the coming months. While it may make sense for the Gunners to make that move, transfer expert David Ornstein believes that the switch could be out of their price range. He said on the Athletic: "In terms of price & profile, I don’t see Arsenal going for Osimhen.
"I suspect he is on their list, like he will be for all the top sides. The pool of quality strikers is so small at present that any big club looking to sign one are likely to be studying the same names - Osimhen, Martinez, Ferguson, Sesko, Boniface etc.”
It remains to be seen which option Arsenal are likely to opt for in their hunt for a new striker, but it appears there will be plenty of competition for his signature.
