Arsenal want to sign €60m Bundesliga star, Mikel Arteta 'very aware' of him - report

Arsenal are one of the clubs in the picture to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Dani Olmo next summer, according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.

The Spaniard has been a key player for the Bundesliga giants and recently put pen-to-paper on a new long-term contract until the summer of 2027.

However, this has not ended the speculation over him and Mundo Deportivo claim that the attacker’s stance has changed due to different circumstances.

Olmo would welcome a return to Barcelona next summer, but he has not ruled out the possibility of moving to England with Arsenal and Chelsea keen.

The source report that Gunners manager Mikel Arteta is very aware of his compatriot, who currently has a release clause worth €60 million in his contract.

Arsenal could make big-money move for Olmo
Olmo is an attacking midfielder by trade, but he also has the ability to play from either wing.

This could be a prime reason behind the Gunners’ interest. Arteta has the preference for versatile forwards and Olmo would be a quality acquisition.

Last season, he managed a goal contribution in every 102 minutes for Leipzig. However, the big concern with him has been his injury record during his Leipzig career.

Olmo has missed close to 50 games with injuries since his move from Dinamo Zagreb in 2020. This is a big warning sign for the Gunners if they want to sign him.

The Spaniard was injury free until his arrival in the Bundesliga. With the higher intensity of the Premier League, there are doubts whether he can stay unscathed.

In our view, Olmo would be a good signing to increase competition for places, but there is always a risk associated with him which Arsenal should be aware of.
