Arsene Wenger delivers verdict on Tottenham's Premier League title chances

Legendary former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he regards Tottenham Hotspur as genuine Premier League title contenders. The Lillywhites currently sit top of the table, remaining as one of only two teams that are yet to taste defeat in the league this term.

Spurs are two points clear of Arsenal in second, with Gunners icon Wenger now backing his old rivals to be in the mix for the title come May. Speaking about Tottenham's start to the season, the Frenchman told beIN SPORTS : "If I said after 10 games [they’d be] top of the league…

"You ask me, not a tricky question because I like always to say what I feel deeply, and I believe Tottenham will be one of the contenders for the league. They bought [James] Maddison, who is a great player and who is that link from low midfield to high midfield, and added some technical creativity to the team.

"They bought [Micky] Van de Ven who I find exceptional. I find him absolutely exceptional.

"They had weaknesses there [in defence] and last year [Hugo] Lloris didn’t have the best of seasons as well. And overall, the movement from Son [Heung-min] into the middle, looks very good."

When asked if he thinks the north Londoners have a genuine chance of winning the title, Wenger replied: "For the Premier League. I would say Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and City of course will always come back.

"They look like the four who will fight at the moment for the Premier League."
