BREAKING:Saka pulls out of England squad as Arteta confirms Arsenal injury decision

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Bukayo Saka will not be part of the England squad for the upcoming international break as part of an ongoing injury concern. The winger was not involved in the Gunners' 1-0 victory over Manchester City, following a string of uncertainty over his availability.

Saka picked up an injury against Tottenham, which occurred again in the Bournemouth clash and then the RC Lens match that followed. It left many questioning if the 22-year-old would be fit enough for the City tie, which was billed as a potential early title decider.

Before the match, Arteta told Sky Sports: "He [Saka] felt something and then you are tempted to risk him, but he was unable to train yesterday so that put him out of the game straight away, It’s a blow not to have him but we have lost players in recent weeks and have adapted to it. He is a really important player, there is no question about that, but the team has to use the resources that we have to make it, even without him."

It's currently unknown just how long Saka could face on the sidelines, with a two-week break before the Gunners face Chelsea on their return. The youngster will be hopeful of being back in contention for that clash, assuming he is back from injury in time for the London derby.

There were concerns over the winger being overworked earlier this week when he was called up by Gareth Southgate in his most recent England squad. The Three Lions boss confirmed that there would be talks over the fitness of Saka and a decision would be made further down the line.

Well that decision has been made now as Arteta has confirmed that Saka won't be part of the squad that face Australia and Italy for England in the next two weeks. Many will be hopeful it's a precaution that will allow the Hale Ender to be back for full fitness when domestic football returns.

If it's anything other than that, then there will be concerns as to how far Arsenal's title push can go if their star man is missing for a period of time.
