Chelsea midfielder, Arsenal striker and five FPL players to avoid in Gameweek 11

After another week of trials and tribulations in Gameweek 10, Fantasy Premier League managers are already out with their spreadsheets and note books.

Anyone who owned a Manchester United asset was one again left frustrated as the Red Devils were trounced at home to Manchester City. It was a similar tale for those who owned Chelsea players as they slumped to a surprise 2-0 home defeat against Brentford while in-form Kieran Trippier picked up a solitary zero points.

Looking ahead, football.london have put together five players that you should consider selling or avoiding. This includes some players in out-of-form teams and those in teams that are flying but are missing out on the points.

Raheem Sterling - Chelsea, midfielder (6.9m)
Sterling was an FPL legend at times when he was at Manchester City and flickers of that player have been evident this season. He terrorised Luton Town with a ridiculous 19-point haul and recently bagged 16 points against Burnley.

In and around those matches, Sterling has played well but has just lacked that killer instinct in the key moments. Unfortunately, that has meant that his only two returns of the campaign were against two of the bottom three.

Chelsea look like a team that are only going to get better but they are plagued with inefficiency when it comes to scoring goals. With that in mind, it makes far more sense to take a chance on Cole Palmer (5.0m), who is much cheaper and on penalties.

Dejan Kulusevski - Tottenham Hotspur, midfielder (7.0m)
Kulusevski looks like the cheat-code when it comes to getting a part of the Spurs team. He starts every week as part of an exciting front-three and often plays the full match.

Unlike James Maddison and Son Heung-min, though, Kulusevski seems to be the one out the outskirts of the action. He gets himself into good positions but, like Richarlison, he rarely seems to provide that cutting edge.

Later in the season, there may well be a place for the Swede. He gets into advanced positions regularly, even if he only has two goals to show for it, but he still looks a bit short of the player who Antonio Conte initially brought to the club from Juventus.

Eddie Nketiah - Arsenal, forward (5.5m)
Nketiah has just scored a hat-trick, are you mad? It would appear so, but the young Englishman is just a game or two away from being back amongst the substitutes.

Gabriel Jesus is expected to be back on November 11 and it is clear that the Brazilian is Arsenal’s first-choice option in attack. That means Nketiah will return to being an impact substitute for the Gunners. In fairness, you do get what you pay for in the 5.5m bracket with Brighton’s Joao Pedro also a rotation risk. But Lyle Foster of Burnley (5.0m) has chipped away with returns all season and is a regular in the team when fit.

Alphonse Areola - West Ham United, goalkeeper (4.3m)
The clamber for Areola was obvious earlier in the season. West Ham’s keeper was one of two starting 4.0m options between the sticks so many early wildcarders decided to double-up on the duo.

However, now he sits at 4.3m, and that makes other options in the price bracket viable. Jordan Pickford (4.4m) now looks viable after Everton’s upturn in form while Sam Johnstone has excellent fixtures around the corner at 4.5m.

While West Ham’s upcoming fixtures are strong, they only have one clean sheet in 10 so it makes Areola less attractive when he is 0.3m more expensive. Even then, a player with aerial presence like Kurt Zouma (4.5m) looks like a better horse to back in the Hammers' defence with James Ward-Prowse on dead-ball situations.

Bruno Fernandes - Manchester United, midfielder (8.3m)
Moving away from the London theme but it has to be said, taking any Manchester United asset at this moment in time is nothing short of madness. Fernandes, as United’s creative hub and penalty taker, would be a shoe-in for FPL managers in the past.

Nowadays, United look unenthused, incoherent and well short of a functioning football team. Other than a resurgent Scott McTominay, it is tough to see where the goals come from or who is going to score the goals.

Even if they manage to get wins against Fulham, Luton and Everton, everything at the football club feels like it is unsustainable. So while Fernandes could bang, it simply makes no sense to put anything substantial on any asset on at that football club.
