Fofana and Pedro Neto feature amongst Edu’s Arsenal international break targets

The international break is often a frustration for club fans and understandably so. After a win against Manchester City in the league all we want is to build on that successful victory and push on toward the excitement that lies ahead.

With competitive qualifiers and some friendlies going on, plenty of exciting talents are sure to be given an opportunity. With that in mind, football.london takes a look at three players we think the club could, or rather should, be monitoring over the next week.

Youssouf Fofana

The dominant tackling, the immediacy of how keen he was to progress the play and the way in which he executed his plan to help his team. He’s been called up to the France squad and even amongst the talent on offer to Didier Deschamps he should be getting chances and arguably should even be starting soon.

In the summer there were suggestions Nottingham Forest had offered an amount that Monaco were willing to accept, he didn’t leave – thank goodness. Arsenal haven’t missed the chance yet and hopefully, they won’t.

Pedro Neto

Pedro Neto is, besides Ivan Toney, the most talked about potential January transfer that the Gunners could move for. The interest in the player is long-standing, football.london understands, and it has certainly been somewhat rekindled this season as the Portuguese international continues to try and enjoy a full campaign away from injury.

With his six-goal contributions in the opening eight games, he has found his way back into the Portuguese national side. He only has four caps for his country at the senior level, and with European Qualifiers against Slovakia and Bosnia and Herzegovina to come you’d expect them to increase and for the Gunners to be watching.Ousmane Diomande

Another player linked with Arsenal in the summer is the exciting 19-year-old defender Ousmane Diomande. The Ivory Coast international is the talent of a generation for the African nation and is sure to command a huge fee once again for a Portuguese club, this time Sporting CP.

He faced off against Arsenal in the Europa League last season and impressed and will now get a chance to build on his sole cap for his country in their games against Morocco and South Africa. A physical but intelligent ball-playing centre-half with a feeling of versatility about his game has caught the eye in north London and will do so over this break.
