'He stayed away from Saliba': Thierry Henry lauds 'special' player after Arsenal transfer rumour

Thierry Henry has hailed Elye Wahi as a ‘special’ player after he bossed around Arsenal in the Champions League.

Just like Newcastle United, RC Lens are also back with the elite for the first time in two decades and they made it count.

Arsenal were outclassed 2-1 on Tuesday night, with Elye Wahi scoring the winning goal after he got the better of William Saliba.

The 20-year-old is a highly-rated player, with Thierry Henry adding that his winning goal was a ‘hell of a finish’, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (03/10/23 at 10:00 pm).

Elye Wahi moved to RC Lens in the summer from Montpellier, after being linked with several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal.

Some would argue that Mikel Arteta and Co. should have taken a punt on him because he is showing serious promise, with question marks about the depth of quality Arsenal have behind their key players. Wahi shines against Arsenal
“This guy you see on the screen had a hell of a finish on the second goal,” said Henry.

“Elye is special. Lens loves to play with their wing-backs – we are going to talk about how he stayed away from Saliba.

“You will see that you don’t need to break your neck. He will beat you to the first post. Stay in a good position between the two lines, Frankowski sees it and Wahi does that to a tee. He can finish so well.”

Arsenal’s forward line
There is now a big light on Arsenal’s forward line, who last season proved its worth and scored the goals that should have won them the title.

Arsenal had the title at the grasp of their hands, but they just bottled leads against the likes of Liverpool and West Ham that cost them that big crown.

But now, with Bukayo Saka picking up an injury in France, then the heat will be on those coming in and starting against Man City on Sunday.
