Ian Wright couldn't stop applauding £16m Arsenal player vs Sevilla last night

And the Arsenal defender replayed Mikel Arteta’s faith with a typically robust performance.

Wright was in Spain to watch Arsenal beat Sevilla and took to X after the match to celebrate Tomiyasu’s impact.

Interestingly, Wright did reshare a post with the caption ‘Get this man a pen’ suggesting Tomiyasu deserved a new contract.

And Wright simply reposted those thoughts with eight clapping emojis.

It was a very important result and performance for Arteta and Arsenal, particularly after their humbling defeat in Lens.

Arsenal now sit top of their Champions League group and enjoy much improved prospects of progressing to the knockout stages.

Of course, attention will now already be turning to the Premier League and Sheffield United on the weekend.

And £16m Tomiyasu will surely be hoping to keep his spot in the side given an incredibly impressive showing in Seville.

Arteta made the right decision starting Tomiyasu for Arsenal against Sevilla
Of course, there were several strong performers on a positive night for The Gunners.

Both Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus were excellent, and not just for their goals.

And given Ian Wright’s other fleet to X whilst in Spain, it would seem he would agree.

After his lung-busting run down the middle of the pitch in the second half, Wright simply shared: “Declan Rice!!!!”

Mikel Arteta clearly has the foundation of an Arsenal team that can win, and Tomiyasu’s showing against Sevilla bodes very well for his starting role.

However, it seems as if a lot of Arsenal’s fortunes will ride on Gabriel Jesus.

If the Brazilian can consistently produce mesmerising performances as he did yesterday, Arsenal are a different team.

Arteta’s lack of a consistent goal scorer has often been talked about of late.

But given his showing last night, Jesus might be quietly confident he can silence that talk.
