Ferdinand was speaking on his YouTube channel after the Spaniard endured a tough day at the office as the Gunners needed a late comeback to earn a point from their trip to Chelsea.
Aaron Ramsdale has not played in the Premier League since the start of September. Without seemingly doing a lot wrong, Ramsdale lost his place to David Raya after the first international break of the season.
Raya has not looked convincing during his run in the side. There have been nervy moments against the likes of Tottenham, Lens and Manchester City. And the worst display of the lot came on Saturday as he made a couple of big mistakes against Chelsea.
Rio Ferdinand says Aaron Ramsdale needs to be banging down Mikel Arteta’s door
He was punished for one, while Cole Palmer was unable to take advantage of the other. With that, Arsenal fans would be forgiven for wanting Ramsdale to come back into the side from now on.

Rio Ferdinand believes that Ramsdale should be questioning Arteta after the draw. However, he did issue a warning that it will not be easy for the England international should he get another chance.
“Saying that Raya can come in and take the number one shirt just like he has, out of nowhere, and that Ramsdale is going to be okay to come back in there, because Ramsdale’s going to be sitting there thinking, ‘I am on icy ground no matter what happens’,” he told his YouTube channel.
“‘I might play a ball, which is a difficult ball, and it might get cut out, or the opposition player might head it’, and immediately his first thought is, ‘what’s the manager thinking? What’s his mannerisms? What’s his body language?’ Immediately, because he’s now uncertain of his position.I just find it really impossible. It’s impossible to expect a goalkeeper that has been conditioned their whole life one way, to then flip [to not knowing whether they are number one].
“If I am Aaron Ramsdale, I’m at Mikel Arteta’s door, and I’m banging down the door,” he went on to add.
Next couple of team selections are going to be very interesting
This feels as though it could be a pivotal moment for Aaron Ramsdale in his Arsenal career. How Mikel Arteta handles the next couple of games could provide a real indication of whether he still has a future at the Emirates.
There is surely no way that Ramsdale will remain at the Emirates in the long run if he is going to permanently remain the number two.
And if Arteta is ever going to make a change, it will surely come after Raya’s display at Chelsea. Certainly, at the very least, Ramsdale should be hoping to come in for the Champions League games.
So if Raya keeps his place for this week’s fixtures with Sevilla and Sheffield United, some will surely be wondering whether the writing will be on the wall for Ramsdale at Arsenal – unless he is content to be incredibly patient.
