Despite such a hefty price tag being put on Declan Rice’s head following his transfer from West Ham United, he hasn’t, for one moment, looked like he has allowed that to get to him.
Former striker Kevin Campbell thinks that Declan Rice has been a ‘bargain’ for Arsenal and someone who is playing ‘like he has been at the club for ten years’, as he told Football’s 12th man Podcast.
From his late winner against Manchester United to his performance against Manchester City, it’s all going right for Declan Rice, so far.
The England international joined Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal to take his game to the next level and push the team towards the Premier League title.
As of this moment, the signs are pretty positive, with Campbell just loving what he has brought to the table.
Declan Rice ‘bargain’
“A bargain £105 million midfielder,” said Campbell. “He has come in and looked like he has been at the club for ten years.
“He has come in and just adapted. Adapted to the fanbase. The price tag to him is nothing. He just plays his game and his attributes just suit what we do.
“We haven’t seen him enough besides Thomas Partey yet. But I think when those two play a number of games together they are just going to get better and better and better.”Declan Rice and Thomas Partey
As of this moment, Arteta hasn’t used both Thomas Partey and Rice together in the middle of the park.
Many thought it would have already happened by now, but Arteta has previously opted to use Partey as a right-back.
But now that the Ghana star is back from injury, it will be interesting to see if the duo are used together
