The summer transfer window feels like it has only just disappeared around the corner, but in reality, it's been now more than a month since Liverpool and the rest of the Premier League concluded all activity in the market. An eventful summer for Jürgen Klopp doesn't mean though that the recruitment team's job is over.

January is only just around the next corner and there are still other areas of the squad that need to be addressed. While Liverpool has definitely plugged the gaps in midfield, there are concerns about the defensive department, and there is also a big looming question mark about the future of Mohamed Salah.

All of that could be tested in the January transfer market. Liverpool will be reluctant to lose Salah, but the Saudi Arabian clubs will be just as eager to land him after failing to get a deal over the line in the summer. Ideally, he would extend his Anfield contract again.

Elsewhere, Liverpool will be targeting other potential recruits with Klopp's side having spent big in the last two January windows, and that could continue considering there is a winter AFCON and an Asian Cup to consider as well which will see some of his players going away on international duty.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.Quinten Timber (Feyenoord)
According to 90Min, Liverpool's scouts have left 'favorable' reports about Quinten Timber, who is the twin brother of Arsenal defender, Jurriën.

But scouts from Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham and Manchester United all seem to be monitoring his situation as well, so there could be plenty of competition. Quinten Timber plays in midfield, which is an area that Liverpool has only just rejuvenated.

Liverpool.com says: Timber, like his twin brother, is a very talented player who plays in midfield, but can also cover in defensive positions as well. It wouldn't be a surprise if Liverpool was interested in him given the club has developed a bit of a knack for signing Dutch international footballers recently, and Klopp could probably use another more defensive-minded midfielder in his ranks.

Lucas Beraldo (São Paulo)
São Paulo FC defender Lucas Beraldo has been on Liverpool's transfer radar according to TEAMtalk. However, it seems like Liverpool is not the only club interested in him with journalist Alexsander Vieira reporting that Manchester City, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Paris Saint Germain are all interested as well as Barcelona.

Liverpool.com says: Beraldo seems like a top prospect, and he is a defender where Liverpool needs to strengthen. However, given the fact that there are so many elite clubs interested in his services as well, it seems very unlike Liverpool to enter a bidding war, which is why at this stage there is probably little hope of seeing Beraldo playing under Klopp.
