Report: Arsenal now plan to sign 'extraordinary' 23-year-old striker in January

Arsenal will now make a move for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic in January after failing to make a move for the striker this summer.

That’s according to Tutto Juve who also confirm that Juventus have expressions of interest from Chelsea and Spain’s Atletico de Madrid.

Arsenal have often been linked with Vlahovic in the past, but a move has never come to fruition.

And perhaps these links are now timely given both Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nkeitah are misfiring in front of goal.

Jesus had a difficult game against Chelsea on Sunday, a day in which Mikel Arteta really lacked a focal point for his side.

His replacement, Nketiah, provided energy and enthusiasm but did have similar difficulties.

And whilst links to Vlahovic are open to interpretation, it would be an interesting change for this Arsenal squad.

Vlahovic would certainly bring a different dynamic to Mikel Arteta’s side, one that does lack a consistent goal-scoring striker.

Of course, there’s no guarantees that Vlahovic would be an instant success at Arsenal or in the Premier League, but he would provide an exciting option for Arteta.

Arsenal may now need a striker like Vlahovic
Before the season started, Arsenal looked well set with their options up front.

Folarin Balogun joined Jesus and Nketiah at time, and it seems unfeasible that the club could make an addition.Fast forward just a few months, and Mikel Arteta does now have just two strikers offering quite a similar skill-set.

Both are brilliant for the team in terms of their pressing, enthusiasm and selfless work for their teammates.

But even combined, Jesus and Nketiah aren’t scoring half the goals of one Erling Haaland at Manchester City – and that has to be the lofty target.

And if these reports are true, that Arsenal do indeed fancy a move for an ‘extraordinary’ striker like Vlahovic, then it may be a result of this early form.

Arteta wants elite competition in all areas of his squad, but he currently doesn’t have an elite goal-scorer in any department.
