'Very good and Ambitious player': Arsenal tipped to sign striker now managed by Thierry Henry to replace Jesus

Jay Bothroyd has backed Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal to sign rising French star Elye Wahi to replace Gabriel Jesus.

Whilst many acknowledge that Gabriel Jesus is a top player and a key component of Arsenal’s system, one thing that continually gets thrown at him is his lack of goals.

That’s something Jay Bothroyd feels strongly about, as he stated on Twitter that the Brazil star has ‘never’ been a striker.

As a result, the former Hale-End player wants Arsenal to sign someone like RC Lens star Elye Wahi, who is now managed by France U21 manager, Thierry Henry.

The 20-year-old has already made himself known to Arsenal fans when he scored against the Gunners during their most recent defeat in the Champions League – Thierry Henry spoke about how he outdid, William Saliba.

And now Bothroyd wants the quick-footed forward to be donning the Arsenal colours because he doesn’t think Gabriel Jesus can play that forward role.

Elye Wahi to Arsenal?
“I said it from day 1 when Jesus arrived, he’s a top player but he’s never been a striker!!!” said Bothroyd.

“I don’t want to hear about any other players coming to the club except a top striker.

“Osimhen, if not, then Toney, Vlahovic maybe. I’m even thinking of Wahi, a very good young player!”

Should Arsenal buy a striker in January?
You can’t say it’s a priority because Arsenal have Jesus, as well as recently handing Eddie Nketiah a new contract, so they are showing faith in him. Then there is the fact that the likes of Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard and Co. are scoring enough goals to put the wins on the board.

That was also proven last season when they missed out on the Premier League title, not because of their lack of goals, but because of their defence.

So, it’s going to be interesting to see what Arsenal do in January because it could prove to be make or break in their quest to win the title.

There is no doubt that they will be in the fight when those crunch moments arrive, after all, they have picked up from where they left off last season and are now unbeaten after nine games.
